About
Us
The
OUTPOST is a part of our Point Baker Trading Post (established 1936) on the water
at the 440 foot State vessel float, where we offer marine fuels, a small convenience
store, Laundromat and public showers, full service cocktail bar, package store
and great burgers, steaks and fresh Alaska seafood in Baywatch Café.
Your
hosts Judy and Herb have lived year round at Point Baker since buying the business
in it's 50th year, becoming a recreation destination in the mid-90s. We offer
large comfortable rooms with private entries equipped with one queen and one twin
bed, coffee
brewer, microwave and refrigerator, paneled with locally milled red and yellow
cedar and featuring great water views.
Hot
breakfast is served in the Café 6:30 to 8:00 am. Enjoy your take-out lunch
on the fishing grounds or come back in for a burger. Then we'll see you for supper
at 6:30, so have those fish in the freezer in time for an aperitif cocktail at
the last floating saloon in southeast Alaska, where you can trade fish stories
with other guests, commercial fishermen and the traveling pleasure boaters of
the Pacific Northwest. Evening meals of fresh Alaska wild salmon, halibut, spot
prawns and Dungeness crab are featured delights as are the char-grilled steaks
and Judy's famous burgers. You may also enjoy our cedar patio deck, the barbecue
and summer kitchen if you prefer doing your own food preparation. You
will jet to Ketchikan, Petersburg or Wrangell on Alaska
Airlines. We are pleased to assist in arranging your spectacular float plane
trip to our door or jet-boat water taxi from Wrangell. The good fishing for king,
silver and pink salmon, halibut, ling cod and yellow-eye snapper stars within
a quarter mile. Unfortunately we can't be responsible for unforeseen schedule
revisions due to weather conditions or other causes beyond our control. License,
alcoholic beverages, gratuities not included.
